You know, every birthday I had when I was a child feels great, i was really looking forward to each of them, to grow old, mature, and be somebody… an Adult, to get a job and something like that.
Yet when I’m getting older, the so-called birthday seems like really the day that you are getting closer to death. I don’t mean in a negative way, but if you think about it this way, remembering death is essential to remember about religion, good deeds, the judgement day, well, about God.
Remembering death brings chill to some of ours, including me… most of the time we avoid this topic in daily conversation, one of my friend call it spoiler
wait…. a spoiler? Like when we haven’t watched the movie and someone tells the story, then the movie will not be as great, as thrilling as it should be?
I don’t think so buddy, I think talking about death is like talking about the test result, and the test is an open book test … the life.
We are afraid to talk about death, because we know we have solved only small percentage of the test questions.
We are afraid to talk about death, because while it’s an open book test, we rarely open the book to look for the answer, sometimes we prefer to ask our friends for the test answer, it’s okay, this test allows that, but whether the answer is true is questionable.
We are afraid to talk about death, because while we are actually doing the test, most of the time we are fooling around : drawing pictures in the answer sheet, writing stupid and opposite answer just for fun. But answering the question with the right answer is also fun… and sometimes we ignore this fact, because we know we have this magic eraser that can erase all the wrong questions, and turn them to right… it can only be used once, so we save the best for last, we plan to use it for when the test is about to end.
Thing is… no one knows how long the test is going to last, and some forgot to use the magic eraser before the test ends, and fail the test.
We are afraid to talk about death, because while we are actually doing the test, we’re allowed to do something else, it’s okay, but sometimes we are too busy doing the ‘something else’ thing and answer the test with anything comes to mind.
We are afraid to talk about death, the test result, because we know when death comes, the time for the test is up, you have to collect the test paper, and in an instant, you will see the test result.
There’s so much more reasons of why we are afraid to talk about death… but talking and thinking about reasons further will only waste our time.
Instead, let’s open the book and seek the answer to the current question we are facing in front of us.
Berat pembahasan kali ini.
Tapi memang, setiap bertambah umur, tiap hari, menit dan detik artinya umur kita terus berkurang. Dan kadang kita terlena dan lalai.
